College of Teaching begins search for inaugural Chief Executive

The College of Teaching, the new independent chartered professional body for the teaching profession, has today (10.06.16) announced it is seeking to appoint its first Chief Executive.

The College of Teaching looks to appoint an exceptional and visionary Chief Executive who will lead the College through a period of exciting challenge on its journey to becoming a successful member driven and voluntary body.

Working with the Founding Trustees, the Chief Executive will lead in driving forward the College’s work to improve education through the support of teacher development and recognition of excellence in teaching. This will be done alongside advancing high standards and promoting evidence-based practice and policy to give teachers equality of status with other professions.

Candidates for this role will have a successful track record in a senior leadership role in education or professional bodies/membership organisations and experience of leading service/product development. They will have a strong understanding of the education sector, proven advocacy experience and the ability to influence and inspire at the highest levels.
